The Miz is a native of Parma, Ohio and attended Miami University. He later relocated to California and to attend acting classes. He was known for appearing on many reality shows such as 'The Real World', 'Fear Factor' and others. Pursuing the goal of becoming a professional wrestler which he had harbored from an early age, Mizanin joined Ultimate Pro Wrestling, where he trained in the Ultimate University. He made his in-ring debut in 2003. In 2004 he joined the television show 'Tough Enough' were the winner would get a WWE developmental contract and $1,000,000.00. Despite not winning 'Tough Enough', the Miz caught the eyes of the WWE anyways and was offered a developmental contract anyways and was sent to Deep South Wrestling. In January of 2006 the Miz was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling where him and his tag team partner Chris Cage won the OVW tag team championship. In March of 2006 WWE.com featured a video of stating that he was headed to Smackdown and throughout April Smackdown hyped his debut. However, when Mizanin actually attempted to make his debut on the April 21, 2006 edition of SmackDown he was (kayfabe) barred from entering the arena by "network executive Palmer Cannon who told him that he had been "canceled" before having security escort him from the premises. He eventually became a host on Smackdown, doing backstage interviews and WWE diva bikini contest. He hosted the Diva search contest along with Ashley and was kind of seen as a dork by everyone as he would stumble his lines alot and call the divas by the wrong names, he appeared to always be really nervous. When he started to actually have matches, though routinely the underdog, he somehow found ways to win his first five matches. He finally lost one to the Boogeyman at Armageddon. Miz was drafted from SmackDown to ECW on June 7, 2007 as part of the WWE draft. He started a new gimmick for himself of a self-proclaimed "chick magnet". Extreme Expose then became managers for The Miz and the Miz seemed like a man of a new self confidence. He then began feuds with Balls Mahoney, CM Punk and John Morrison. He was voted at Cyber Sunday to face CM Punk for the ECW Championship but lost the match. In November of 2007 the Miz and John Morrison teamed up on Friday Night Smackdown and beat Matt Hardy and MVP for their tag team titles. They have successfully defended their titles on many occasions but it came to an end on July 20, 2008 at the Great American Bash. Miz and Morrison were involved in a four way tag match with their tag team titles on the line. The title was lost even though the Miz or Morrison were neither involved with the cover of the match. Curt Hawkins pinned Jesse giving the tag team title to Zach Rider and Curt Hawkins.In February of 2008 Morrison and the Miz were given their own streaming segment on the official WWE website called 'The Dirt Sheet'. They would usually mock other wrestlers and the show has became very popular.
After losing the tag titles, Morrison and Miz entered a feud with ECW newcomers Evan Bourne and Ricky Ortiz, who they had previously mocked (and continued to do so) on the Dirt Sheet, as well as an Internet-centered feud with RAW's Cryme Tyme based on which WWE.com online show was the best (between the Dirt Sheet and Cryme Tyme's "Word Up"). Recently RAW's Jillian Hall has also aligned herself with the tag team.
On October 28, 2008 at Cyber Sunday Miz and John Morrison would battle Cryme Tyme. The match was voted by fans as the tag team match that they wanted to see. Miz and Morrison would get the victory in the match.
At Survivor Series on November 23, 2008 Miz and his partner the John Morrison would be on Team JBL along with JBL, MVP and Kane. They would battle Team HBK which consist of Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Cryme Tyme and the great Khali. Unfortunately, the Miz and his team lost.
On December 13, Morrison and The Miz won the World Tag Team Championship from CM Punk and Kofi Kingston at a Raw house show.
A long fued came abouts between the World Tag Team Champs Miz and Morrison with the WWE Tag Team Champs the Colons. After months and months the two teams met on April 5th, 2009 at Wrtestlemania 25 with both teams putting their titles on the line. Miz and Morrison were not able to pull out the win and lost their World Tag Team Titles as the Colons became the undisputed tag team champs by holding both tag team titles.
On the April 13 episode of Raw, The Miz lost a match to Kofi Kingston due to Morrison's inadvertent interference, which gave Raw a draft pick in the 2009 WWE Draft. The pick was then revealed to be The Miz, and he subsequently attacked Morrison, ending their partnership. He challenged John Cena to a match on the April 27 episode of Raw, but as Cena was out due to injury, Miz claimed an unofficial win via forfeit and has continued to do this for weeks. Cena ended all the talk when he defeated Miz in a singles match at The Bash.
With the Miz losing the match to Cena, that meant in storyline that he was banned from the Staples Center, Raw and SummerSlam (and Summerfest). The following week, on the August 10, 2009 episode of Raw, Miz competed under a mask as "The Calgary Kid", and won a contract on pole match against Eugene, earning a contract in storyline, and revealing himself by removing his mask afterwards.
With his spot back now on Monday Night Raw. On the August 17, 2009 episode, The Miz announced his intention to challenge for the WWE United States Championship, and also debuted new ring attire and a new finishing move to defeat Evan Bourne.
