Kane made his first professional wrestling debut in 1992 in St. Louis. He worked for USWA, then SMW before finding his way to the WWF competing as Dr. Issac Yankem DDS and was Jerry "the king" Lawler's private dentist. In 1997 the Kane we know came to be as he was packaged as the younger brother of the Undertaker. The storyline says that Paul Bearer and Undertakers mother bore Kane. Undertakers parents owned the funeral home and Paul Bearer was an employee. When they were children Undertaker accidentally burned down the funeral home killing his parents. Paul Bearer was able to save himself and Kane. When things went sour between Paul Bearer and Undertaker Paul brought Kane in to destroy his half brother. They've had many encounters since this time. Kane ended up turning into a face (good guy) a few years later and began teaming up with Undertaker as "Brothers of Destruction". Over the years he has been back and forth as a heel and a face and has been the WWE champion, tag team champion (with Undertaker), Hardcore champion, Intercontinental champion and world tag team champion eight times. After the WWF split into Smackdown and Raw brands Kane spent most of the time at Raw and has been on Smackdown since October, 2006 and has been one of Smackdowns biggest stars. At Wrestlemania XXIV Kane won a 24 man battle royal which gave the winner a shot at the ECW champion Chavo Guerrero's belt that same night. Kane then defeated Chavo Guerrero in about 6 seconds to become the ECW champion. Kane held on to his ECW title until June 29, 2008 at the Night of Champions PPV event. Kane had to defend his title in a triple threat match against the Big Show and Mark Henry, Henry ended winning and becoming the new ECW champion. In the 2008 WWE draft Kane was sent to Raw from Smackdown. On the July 7, 2008 edition of Raw Kane was involved in a fatal four way match against Batista, JBL and John Cena to determine who would go on to the Great American Bash to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. It came down to Kane and Batista but after a spear by Batista, Kane lost the match. After that Kane turned into a mad man and started attacking everyone along ringside. Kane started yelling at everyone "Is he alive or dead?". No one knew what Kane was talking about and when Kane asked WWE Raw broadcaster Michael Cole and Cole did not know, Kane abused Cole and threw him in the ring. Cole was saved by fellow broadcaster Jerry Lawler but many wonder what had gotten into Kane as he looked like he may be turning heel. On July 20, 2008 at the Great American Bash Kane interrupted a World Heavyweight Championship match between CM Punk and Batista. Kane attacked both of them and when walking away kept saying "Is he alive." Kane also kicked a camera man. A few weeks later on Raw Kane said "He's in a better place"and the unknown "He" was dead. Kane started carrying around a small burlap with him for weeks and everyone wondered what was in it. On the August 11, 2008 edition of Raw Kane pulled a luchador mask out of his burlap sack after weeks of claiming that what was in the sack had died, "he" was revealed by Kane to be Rey Mysterio saying he had been "beaten and tortured beyond recognition".
On September 7, 2008 at Unforgiven Kane battled in the Raw scramble match for the World Heavyweight Championship in which Chris Jericho (who was a replacement for CM Punk) ended up winning. Others to compete in that match were Batista, JBL and Rey Mysterio.

The feud with Rey Mysterio led into No Mercy where Kane would lose by DQ after smashing a chair into Mysterio. Three weeks later Kane would have a match again with Mysterio at Cyber Sunday. Kane lost the match though after Mysterio hit the 619 on him. The next day on Raw though Kane would attack Mysterio after Mysterio won a match. Kane would take down Rey with a massive chokeslam.
Kane competed at Survivor Series on November 23, 2008 as part of Team JBL that would battle Team HBK. Team JBL lost though. Kane was personally eliminated when Mysterio and Khali double teamed on him.
Kane turned face once again in a promo with Chris Jericho, telling him that he loved the fans and did not like Jericho. Kane accompanined Kelly Kelly in the 2008 Slammy Awards, announcing The Couple of the Year (won by Edge and Vickie). While presenting the award, Kelly Kelly said love is a beautiful thing. Kane apparently thought she loved him.
The following week Kelly was attacked after winning a Diva's tag match, when Kane saved her, and after offering to help her up (which Kelly refused and ran away) Kane stalked her, until sitting her in a room and tell him who she was in love with. Kelly lied and said it was The Miz, which led Kane to attack Miz, first with a Chokeslam, then a Tombstone. The following week, Kane, told to by Stephanie McMahon, apologized in a not so pleasant way to Kelly for his behavior. He then got annoyed by Kelly for lying to him. Kane lost to Shawn Michaels in the Race to the Royal Rumble match after the promo with Kelly.
In February, 2009 at the 2009 No Way Out. Kane would participate in the Raw Elimination Chambers match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Kane though, was the first one eliminated. Edge, who earlier that night had lost the WWE Championship, would win the Raw Elimination Chambers Match and win the World Heavyweight Championship.
On April 5th, 2009 Kane competed at Wrestlemania 25 in a 8 man Money in the Bank matchup. Unfortunately for Finlay he did not succeed in winning the match as CM Punk won the MITB match for the second year in a row.
At the 2009 WWE Draft, Kane defeated Smackdown's The Brian Kendrick to earn a draft pick for Raw, and later in the night Kane himself would be drafted back to SmackDown. He continued his feud with CM Punk, who was also drafted to Smackdown, and defeated Punk at Backlash.
After a period of absence to tour India and also heal injuries, he returned at The Bash to aid Dolph Ziggler in his match with The Great Khali by hitting Khali with a steel chair allowing Ziggler to win, starting a feud with Khali. The feud escalated when Kane kidnapped Ranjin Singh.
On August 23, 2009 at Summerslam tempers would fly as Kane battled Khali. Khali had control early but Kane was able to hit a running DDT to pick up the pinfall victory.
