Jeff Hardy Bio

Early in Jeff Hardy's wrestling career he wrestled for his brother Matt Hardy's wrestling promotion called OMEGA which stood for Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts. Two other notable names that wrestled for OMEGA were Gregory Helms and Shannon Moore. In 1998 Jeff and Matt both signed with the WWF and OMEGA folded. They spent the first months on the WWF as jobbers but then became the Hardy Boyz. In 1999 they would win their first WWF tag team championship. In 2000 they would team up with their real life friend Lita and the three became known as Team Xtreme, they feuded most of the year with Edge and Christian. In 2001 Jeff Hardy showed that he was not only a great tag team performer but also a great singles competitor as he won the Intercontinental, Light Heavyweight and Hardcore Championships. Jeff though still was mainly a tag team wrestler with his brother as the Hardy Boyz. In 2002 when Matt hardy left to Smackdown Jeff Hardy became mainly a singles competitor. That same year Jeff Hardy won the European Championship in a match against William Regal. In 2003 Jeff had a kayfabe relationship with Trish Stratus, that same year he was also released by the WWE. Jeff claimed "Burn out" and just needing some time off though the WWE claimed erratic behavior, drug use, refusal to go to rehab, deteriorating ring performance, as well as constant tardiness and no shows. Hardy made a one time performance for ROH and won but was booed by the crowd as they chanted "We want Matt" and "You were fired". After a whole year not wrestling Hardy made his debut on TNA on June 23, 2004 and wrestled there for a couple of years. On August 4, 2006 Jeff Hardy re-signed with the WWE and was a member of Raw. He feuded with Edge but his most noticeable feud was with Johnny Nitro whom he took the Intercontinental title from, only to lose it back to Nitro but able to win it yet again from Nitro. On November 21, 2006 Jeff and Matt teamed up once again as the Hardy Boyz for the first time in five years, they beat the Full Blooded Italians. On April 2, 2007 the Hardy Boyz would win the tag team championship in a ten team battle royal for the gold, they would later lose their belts to Cade and Murdoch. On September 3, 2007 Hardy successfully captured his fourth Intercontinental Championship by defeating Umaga for the title. Hardy and Triple would sometimes tag team together but this led to a friendly rivalry between the two superstars. At Armageddon Jeff Hardy beat Triple H to become the number one contender for the WWE championship. Jeff Hardy would end up feuding a lot with Triple H and Randy Orton and became one of Raws most popular wrestlers and a fan favorite. During the March 3 edition of Raw, Hardy appeared on Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel segment as a special guest, but ended up delivering a Twist of Fate to Jericho. This led to an Intercontinental title match on the following Raw where Hardy dropped the title to Jericho. Off-screen, Hardy dropped the title after he was suspended for sixty days, as of March 11, for his second violation of the company's Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy. Hardy was also removed from the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania XXIV after the suspension was announced. Hardy returned on the May 12, 2008 edition of Raw, defeating Umaga via pinfall. This reignited the feud between the two, and they met in a Falls Count Anywhere match at One Night Stand which Jeff Hardy won.

On June 23rd, 2008 Jeff Hardy was drafted to Smackdown during the 2008 WWE draft. A few weeks after going to Smackdown Hardy was on MVP's VIP Lounge. During the show MVP attacked Hardy's personal character which led to a feud between the two. Hardy met up with MVP at Summerslam 2008 and was about to win the match but Shelton Benjamin interfered in the match and MVP got the win over Hardy.

On September 7, 2008 at Unforgiven Hardy competed in the WWE championship scramble match against WWE champion Triple H and challengers MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Brian Kendrick. After hitting the Swanton Bomb and pinning Brian Kendrick, Hardy was seconds away from becoming the new WWE champion but Triple H was able to pin MVP with seconds left in the match to retain his title.

After coming so close to winning the WWE championship Jeff Hardy competed in a fatal four way match on the September 12 edition of Smackdown. The winner would go on to face Triple H at No Mercy for the WWE championship, Jeff Hardy was able to win the match. During the show Hardy and Triple H both made insults to one another though showing the respect they have for each other.

At No Mercy Hardy came within a second of becoming the WWE Champion but Triple H was able to hold on to his title when he reversed a pin for the victory. Hardy, still hungry for another shot at the WWE title started feuding with Vladimir Koslov, another guy who had his eyes on Triple H's title.

On October 26, 2008 at No Mercy Jeff Hardy would get another shot at the WWE title against Triple H but once again came up short as Triple H retained his title.

Hardy was scheduled again to get another shot at Triple H's WWE title at Survivor Series on November 23, 2008. It was to be a Triple Threat match that included Vladimir Koslov. Unfortunately for Jeff Hardy though, he was attacked backstage prior to the match by someone unknown and was not able to compete so it ended up being a one on one match between Koslov and Triple H. After injuring each other and both men laying on the mat as the refs counted, Vickie Guerrero appeared and announced that this match will continue to be a Triple Threat match as scheduled. It was not to be Jeff Hardy though, suddenly the Rated-R superstar Edge came rushing into the ring. Hardy, later came rushing into the ring and hit both Koslov and Edge over the heads with a steel chair. Edge though would recuperate and would end up winning the WWE title from Triple H. On December 14, 2008 at Armageddon, Hardy would take part of a triple threat match for Edge's WWE title. It was Jeff Hardy Vs. Triple H V. Edge. After Triple H was able to hit his Pedigree move on Edge, Hardy was able to quickly do a Swanton off the corner ropes and grab the winning pinfall. Jeff Hardy was finally able to capture the WWE title.

In the weeks of January 2009, Hardy seemed to be getting in lots of accidents, including a hit-and-run automobile accident and an accident involving his ring entrance pyrotechnics. Edge was suspected to be involved with these incidents since they had a WWE title match coming up at Royal Rumble but Edge plead his innocence. At the 2009 Royal Rumble, Hardy lost his WWE Championship to Edge after Hardy's brother, Matt, shocked the WWE fans when he interfered on Edge's behalf and hit Hardy with a steel chair over the head thus cauing Jeff to lose his WWE title to Edge.

Jeff Hardy though would get another chance at the WWE title but he would have to win a Smackdown Elimination Chambers match on February 15, 2009 at No Way Out against not only Edge but also, Vladimir Koslov, Undertaker, Big Show and Triple H. Hardy got off to a good start as he quickly pinned Edge which guaranteed a new WWE champ that night. Later though, Undertaker would hit a Tombstone Piledriver on Hardy which led to a pin and Jeff's elimination from the match. Triple H though, was the man who would win that night and became the new WWE champion.

Jeff then would have to put up with his brother Matt mocking Jeff week after week, trying to persuade Jeff to fight him which Jeff refused to do until the March 13th, 2009 episode of Smackdown were Jeff just had enough. This led to an official match between the two brothers as they battled in an Extreme Rules Match on April 5th, 2009 at Wrestlemania 25. This match saw framed poster, trash can, chairs and a vacuum cleaner used. In the end Matt was victorious as he nailed Jeff with a Twist of Fate with Jeff's head through a chair.

This allowed Jeff to grab the belt hanging above the ring to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Unfortunately for Jeff, CM Punk decided it was time to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and attacked Jeff and took the World Heavyweight Championship from Jeff. Hardy only held on to the title for about 2 minutes.

On the August 7, 2009 episode of SmackDown Jeff Hardy defended his World Heavyweight Championship match against CM Punk with Matt Hardy as the special guest referee.Jeff was not to happy about it but after Punk accidentally hit Matt, Matt ended up going at it with Punk for a while. This set up the match more in Jeff's favor. Matt ended up counting the pinfall as Jeff defended his title. Matt then just walked away after the match.

On the August 14, 2009 episode of Smackdown Jeff Hardy battled DH Smith & Tyson Kidd in a 2 on 1 handicapped match. CM Punk would get involved and triple team with the Hart's against Jeff but then John Morrison ran into the ring to help out Jeff. The Hart's took care of Morrison though and then Punk hit Morrison over the head with a steel chair. Punk then put a chair on Jeff's neck to try to do the same thing he did the previous week. Just then, Matt Hardy rushed out to the ring and started fighting Punk to prevent any harm. Morrison was able to recover to start fighting the Harts off, and eventually they cleared the ring. Matt went over to help up Jeff Hardy, who was resistant at first. After all was over, backstage, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon went up to Teddy Long and asked what's in store for next week's show. Long announced Morrison & The Hardys vs. CM Punk and Hart Dynasty.

The next week on the August 21, 2009 episode of Smackdown Jeff Hardy would team up with his brother Meff Hardy and John Morrison and battle the Hart Dynasty and CM Punk. Matt and Jeff were introduced together and came down the ramp together reminding fans of all the old Hardy Boys memories. The match ended when Matt hit CM Punk with the Twist of Fate and the pin. After the match, Jatt and Meff hugged each other.

On August 23, 2009 at Summerslam Jeff would defend his World Heavyweight title against CM Punk in a tables, ladders and chairs match. During the match, Jeff climbed to the top of a very tall ladder and did a major Swanton dive off the ladder to crash down onto Punk through a table. This prompted EMT's to come out and put Jeff on a stretcher. As they were taking Jeff away, he got off the stretcher and crawled back into the ring. Meanwhile, Punk was setting a ladder up. Jeff climbed up the other side and fought with Punk while Punk had his hand on the title. Punk eventually was able to knock Jeff off the ladder down to the mat, then pulled down the title to win the match and become the new World Heavyweight champion.

On the August 28, 2009 edition of Smackdown Jeff Hardy battled CM Punk in a loser leaves WWE steel cage match in which CM Punk won. As Hardy got up, he got a great applaud from the WWE crowd. Jeff said that he was sorry if he let anyone down and that if it's in his future that he will one day be back in the WWE again. Jeff said that at least there is still one Hardy left in the WWE, he of course was talking about Matt. As Jeff left the ring he took off his shirt and arm sleeve covers to give to fans.
