Mark Henry Bio

Mark Henry is one of the most powerful WWE wrestlers. He should be as he is the 'worlds strongest man'. The nickname came when he qualified for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona as he respectfully finished in 10th place. In 1996 Mark Henry came to the WWF and one of his first feuds was with Jerry Lawler. Some story lines had Mark as a sexual addict who would always be womanizing and he even picked up the nickname 'Dark Chocolate" for a while. In 2000 he was sent to OVW to improve his conditioning, later that year he started consecrating on weight lifting and ended up winning the strongman competition during the Arnold Classic and won a $75,000 vehicle. He made a brief return to Smackdown (Now the WWE brand), left to OVW for reconditioning again and then the following year went to Raw (the other WWE brand). In 2006 Mark Henry came back to Smackdown and joined up a while with MNM when he helped them defeat Mysterio and Batista in a tag team match. He then feuded with then World Heavyweight Champ Batista and ended up hurting Batista which required some surgery so Batista had to give up the championship. Then came a battle royal to crown a new champion but Mark Henry didn't get the belt as he was tossed out by Kurt Angle. Later the two would battle one on one for the title but Angle was able to defend his title and beat Mark Henry. Mark Henry feuded with Undertaker, Mysterio, Chris Benoit and the greatest of the great Smackdown superstars. Henry needed surgery following an injury toward the end of 2006 but then made his return in May of 2007 to Smackdown. Henry began feuding with Kane for a while and then offered an open challenge to anyone to challenge him with no one accepting. Mark Henry then started taunting Undertaker awaiting his comeback after Henry put him out of action for a while. Undertaker returned at 'Unforgiven' in September 2007 as the two squared off, Mark Henry lost the match though.

Henry started feuding with the Big Show which eventually led to a three way handicapped match at Night of Champions on July, 29, 2008. The match was between the two challengers Mark Henry and Big Show versus the ECW Champion Kane. Mark Henry ended up winning the match to become the ECW Champion. It was fitting as a couple of days earlier Henry was drafted from Smackdown to ECW during the WWE draft.

On July 20, 2008 at the Great American Bash Mark Henry defended his ECW title against Tommy Dreamer. Mark Henry would now have a new escort to the ring. Former wrestling star Tony Atlas would now escort Mark Henry to the ring.

On August 17, 2008 Mark Henry would defend his ECW title against Matt Hardy. During that match Matt Hardy delivered a Twist of Fate to Mark Henry and looked like he may take the title but Tony Atlas rescued Henry by pulling Matt Hardy off of Henry. Hardy won the match by DQ but Mark Henry was still ECW Champion. Hardy had a rematch for the title a few days later on ECW but once again fell with outside interference from Tony Atlas as mark Henry beat him to retain his championship.

On September 7, 2008 at Unforgiven Mark Henry would lose the title twice in one night in the Championship Scramble, first to Chavo Guerrero and secondly to Finlay. Matt Hardy ended the match as the new official ECW champion.

On October 5, 2008 at No Mercy Mark Henry had another shot to reclaim the ECW Championship but came up short as Matt Hardy hit the Twist of Fate on Mark Henry and then the win.

On November 23, 2008 Henry was part of team Orton as they battled team Batista. Mark Henry was eliminated but his team did win the match.

On April 5th, 2009 Mark Henry competed at Wrestlemania 25 in a 8 man Money in the Bank matchup. Unfortunately for Mark Henry he did not succeed in winning the match as CM Punk won the MITB match for the second year in a row.

On June 29, Henry was traded to the Raw brand, and had his first match that night as the third opponent in a three-on-one gauntlet match against Randy Orton, which he won, turning Henry into a fan favorite in the process.

Mark Henry then began teaming with Hornswoggle and began feuding with Chavo Guerrero. While Hornswoggle continued feuding with Chavo, Henry started teaming up with MVP and started feuding with Chris Jericho and the Big Show.
